ThePracticeRoom.ph: Building a Home for the Filipino Jiu-Jitsu Community

.PH for Sports

Training spaces often focus only on performance. But for many people, martial arts is about more than competition—it’s about growth, belonging, and community.

That belief shaped the vision behind The Practice Room. Chrissie Torres and her team launched the space out of a deep passion for sharing the sport of Jiu-Jitsu—while building something more intentional around it.

“We launched The Practice Room out of a passion for sharing the sport of Jiu-jitsu. Our space also houses a healthy cafe that our patrons can enjoy. TPR is a place where people can come in, be themselves, make new friends and enjoy nourishing food and coffee.

We have built a wonderful community here and we are always inspired to create new event concepts for them to enjoy together. ”

Why The Practice Room chose a website and a .ph domain?

Constructing a website created a dedicated home.

“Building a website was important for us because we wanted to be able to give our clients an easy way to update and view their packages independently as well as showcase all our available rates and info in an organized fashion.”

Using a .ph domain was intentional—reflecting that this is a proudly Filipino-rooted space, built around a local community.

“We love using .ph as our domain because it cements us as a proud business from the Philippines where our community is inherently rooted.”

From idea to identity

The idea came first. The name followed. The Practice Room reflects their philosophy: mastery isn’t about instant results, but about consistent practice at any level. It’s a place where you can safely learn, grow, and practice your Jiu-Jitsu.

“We named our concept The Practice Room because we wanted people to be able to try Jiu-jitsu at any level. Instead of focusing on the competitive nature of the sport, we wanted people to see it as a part of their ritual to become better overall – hence “practice” being the focus of our space.”

The mission

ThePracticeRoom.ph’s mission is:

To pursue mastery – Both in the sport of Jiu-jitsu and in the quality of our cafe products. We want to connect with those that want to further refine their skills and cultivate the mission of growing together as a community. The goal is to ascend together through practice.

The Practice Room welcomes students as young as four to adults in their senior years—creating a space where training, friendship, and even a post-class smoothie at Mana Café all become part of the journey.
