Spellbook.ph: Streamlining MTG Trading in the Philippines
.PH for Community
For Filipino Magic: The Gathering traders, using Facebook groups to buy, sell, or trade cards was messy and inefficient.
For Kirk Patrick, the issue was clear – he was a player himself and wanted a smoother experience.
What began as a personal solution to streamline his own trades quickly revealed a broader need across the country.
“Filipino traders were using Facebook groups as the main platform, and to be honest it was not efficient, so I made a web app that streamlines the trading process.”
Why Spellbook chose a .ph domain?
Building Spellbook.ph allowed Kirk to connect Filipino traders nationwide.
“I chose a .ph domain because my main market was Filipino traders, and I thought it would be easy for players to remember the domain.”
The .PH domain makes it easy for players to remember and signals a platform made specifically for the local community.
From idea to identity
The idea came first — the name followed naturally to reflect the product and the gaming community.
“The idea came first and then the domain name was there to glue everything together for the Filipino MTG community.”
The mission
At the heart of Spellbook lies on goal:
Connect Filipino MTG traders nationwide, and ensure that trading is as easy as possible. which can also be a way to encourage new players.
Today, Spellbook.ph continues to grow the MTG trading community, encouraging new players, and improving the trading experience across the Philippines.
