It became impossible for founder, Ken Onozawa, to ignore brands that had potential, but struggled to bridge strategy, design, and execution, especially for local businesses.
“Press Start grew out of years of working with brands that had great products but struggled to translate that into real growth. It was built to help brands start properly and grow with clarity and intention.”
Beyond servicing clients, Press Start also builds and runs their own Shopify stores, which shaped the belief that strong foundations and practical systems matter.
Why Press Start chose a website and a .ph domain?
A dedicated website became essential. Launching pressstart.ph allowed the team to explain how they work and take control of the brand.
“Social platforms are great for reach, but a website is where a business truly owns its presence. It creates clarity, credibility, and control over how a brand is experienced.
Running our own Shopify stores and supporting long-term clients reinforced this for us—sustainable growth comes from strong foundations, not just visibility or algorithms.”
Choosing a .ph domain was a deliberate way to reflect identity and show their commitment to building alongside the local business community. Ken has also recommended and helped register .ph domains for many of his client merchants, especially those who want a clearer local presence and stronger brand credibility online.

From idea to identity
The work came before the name. Press Start draws from classic games, where pressing start marks the beginning of a mission—a fitting metaphor for helping brands start properly, move forward with confidence, and keep progressing as they grow.
“The idea came first. We wanted a name that felt optimistic, familiar, and action-oriented. Press Start was inspired by our love for classic games like Super Mario on Nintendo, where “Press Start” signals the beginning of a mission.”
